The nominations for the 24th Annual OFTA Film awards were announced on Sunday, January 19, 2020.
Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood and Parasite were the top nominees this year with 14 each. Fellow Best Picture nominee 1917 came in third with 12 while Little Women earned 11 nominations. Other nominees for Best Picture include The Farewell, Ford v Ferrari, The Irishman, Jojo Rabbit, Joker, and Marriage Story.
The winners will be revealed on Sunday, February 2, 2020.

Wow. If there was ever a massive snub, it’s The Lion King for Best Visual Effects. That film had the most groundbreaking VFX work in years and it didn’t even get nominated???

This entire film was built on a computer to look completely hyperrealistic, how is this snub even possible?
Well, this is voted on by the members of the organization, so there’s no telling why it didn’t rate a nomination. My personal guess is that members just felt it was more animated than live action.
